We are thrilled to announce that Julia Lafferty, CPA, partner and director of not-for-profit services, has been named president-elect of the Greater Washington Society of CPAs (GWSCPA). She will officially assume the role of president on June 30, 2025. This honor marks a significant milestone in Julia’s long-standing commitment to the accounting profession, and the not-for-profit industry.

Founded in 1923, the Greater Washington Society of CPAs is a professional association serving CPAs and financial professionals across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. With nearly 3,600 members, the Society is dedicated to advancing the accounting profession. GWSCPA offers a wide range of programs, including professional development conferences, networking events, and specialized committees.
Julia Lafferty’s Leadership Journey
Julia Lafferty brings over 30 years of accounting and auditing experience. At CBM, she serves as a director of the firm’s not-for-profit and employee benefit plan services groups. Julia delivers auditing, accounting and tax expertise to her clients. She also plays a key role in CBM’s recruitment efforts, attending events and training the next generation of CPAs.
Julia has been an active member of the GWSCPA, helping the organization to accomplish its goals. Since joining the executive committee in 2022, Julia has held several leadership positions, including secretary, treasurer, and vice president. She chaired major events such as the 2020 Nonprofit Symposium and the 2022 Employee Benefit Plans Conference, and is a regular speaker on nonprofit and employee benefit matters. Each year, you can find her among the booths at the GWSCPA nonprofit symposium sharing her enthusiasm with others in the industry.
