CBM Donates 2,500 Meals to DC-Area Individuals and Families Facing Food Insecurity

Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell (CBM) has donated 2,500 meals to customers served by the Capital Area Food Bank. During a year that has tested the health, well-being and food security of countless thousands across the DC metropolitan region, everyone at the firm is grateful for the opportunity to continue its business of serving clients…and giving back when needed.

“Our business has remained strong despite the pandemic,” said Peter B. Reilly, CPA, CVA, President and Managing Partner of CBM. “Our team has much to be thankful for in 2020, and we wish to share that fortune with those who are facing difficulties. No one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.”

The Capital Area Food Bank donation is the latest form of charitable support that rippled throughout CBM in 2020. To help celebrate the firm’s upcoming 100th anniversary, CBM launched “CBM100-Charities” by securing a commitment from each team member to head a charitable activity for a DC-area not-for-profit organization. CBM has, for example, participated in a fundraising race to end cancer, led a clean-up event with the Rock Creek Conservancy, donated coats and other clothing to the homeless, and donated toys to sick children participating in research studies at the National Institutes of Health.

The 2,500 meals that will be served by the Capital Area Food Bank will be to individuals and families in the region struggling with food insecurity. Food donations such as these help children focus in school, parents pay bills and senior citizens stay healthy.

“We’ve been a member of this community for a long time,” continued Reilly. “We’re proud to do our share.”
