(Virtual) The Employee Retention Credit – How Qualifying Businesses Can Utilize Pandemic Relief Legislation

March 31, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Eastern

The Employee Retention Credit, introduced under the 2020 CARES Act, provided relief to businesses that experienced a partial or complete shutdown due to the pandemic by providing a credit based on qualified wages paid to employees. ERC benefits expanded through 2021 under the Consolidated Appropriations Act and the American Rescue Plan Act but a number of questions still remain. This includes some uncertainty surrounding how to properly determine eligibility, interaction with the Paycheck Protection Program, and how to claim the credit.

On Wednesday, March 31, from 11 am to 12 noon, join Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, P.C. for an in-depth discussion of the ERC. Senior Vice President John Comunale and Tax Supervisor Tom Hudson will address:

  • Determining eligibility and discussing how to apply the eligibility requirements
  • How businesses eligible for the ERC, and which have PPP loans, can ensure compliance and maximize aid between the two programs
  • Claiming the credit for 2020 and 2021
  • Discuss some unclear parts of the ERC and questions to be answered by the IRS
