On September 19, Jessica Rose and her husband participated in the annual Satilla River Cleanup in Georgia. The effort gathered 40+ volunteers to help clean up the Satilla River in which 432 plastic bottles, 402 beverage cans, 133 food wrappers and more were collected. Jessica has been a regular of the clean-up initiative–an image of her cleaning up the river three years ago can be found on their website. The clean-up initiative began in 2014 and has since collected over 16,000 pounds of trash from the river.
While the unfortunate events related to the pandemic this year made the effort a bit more complicated, the leaders of the initiative let all participants self-guide their clean-ups. Jessica was able to collect three large trash bags full of litter from the river.
