Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell (CBM) team members contributed to a food drive that ran from mid-March to mid-April and which resulted in the collection of nearly 10 bags of food for the Manna Food Center, a Montgomery County-based food bank dedicated to eliminating hunger through food distribution, education and advocacy. The initiative continues CBM’s years-long dedication to community service and partly the result of collaboration with a local middle schooler, the son of CBM Marketing Director Joe Kovacs.
Despite a demanding schedule driven by tax season, CBM team members responded enthusiastically to the middle’s schooler’s school project to take action to benefit his community, by supplying a large number of essential good items including grains, rice and pastas, various sources of protein such as peanut butter and canned beans, canned vegetables and other shelf-stable items. The firm’s office lobby in Bethesda became the gathering site for a growing number of donated items over the past month.
During an initiative to celebrate CBM’s 100th anniversary in 2021, Kovacs organized a volunteer activity for seven CBM team members to organize several bins of food at the Manna Food Center. His son, remembering his commitment to helping those facing hunger and food insecurity, chose supporting the food center as his own school project when it was time to give back.
On April 5, he visited CBM and, along with members of the firm, gathered the food donations made over the past month into his father’s car. They drove to the Manna Food Center’s warehouse in Gaithersburg that afternoon to hand over the bags of goods to appreciative staff.
Thanks to all the CBM team members who generously gave during the campaign – especially because it was one of the busiest times of the year.
