Stephanie Anderson, CFA, CFP®, CDFA®,

Manager, Divorce Financial Planning and Wealth Management

"Change is not a threat, it’s an opportunity. Survival is not the goal, transformative success is."

Stephanie Anderson, CFA, CFP®, CDFA®, is a manager of divorce financial planning and wealth management at Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell.  She has more than 30 years of experience in the investment management and strategy consulting industries.  Stephanie joined CBM because she is passionate about helping clients make smart financial decisions and confidently navigate all of life’s transitions to achieve their life goals.  Before pursuing financial planning and wealth management as a career, Stephanie trained to become a classical flutist.  From elementary school, she played in a chamber group as well as an orchestra.  Those early collaborative musical experiences shaped the way that Stephanie thinks about financial planning and wealth management.  In sum, the most dynamic outcomes are achieved when a group of highly trained professionals work together collaboratively as a team in service to the needs and goals of the client.

Stephanie has considerable experience working with individuals, couples, and families to manage their finances in a comprehensive, holistic manner throughout their lives—from marriage, starting a family, planning for taxes, preparing for retirement, and estate advisory/legacy planning.  She recently expanded her focus to assist individuals who are contemplating or engaged in a divorce.  In order to give divorcing families a range of options, Stephanie has completed training in both interdisciplinary collaborative divorce and divorce mediation.  She has also obtained the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® designation.

In addition to her expertise in financial planning for families, Stephanie has worked extensively with institutional clients (especially endowments and foundations) and their boards and investment committees to develop investment policy statements that guide the management and oversight of their portfolios.  Further, she has honed her analytical and creative problem-solving skills during numerous engagements as a strategy consultant.

Stephanie, a native Washingtonian, enjoys Pilates, ping pong, tennis and biking in her free time.  She loves pizza and is always game for taco night.  Most Saturdays during the winter, she can be found sitting around the bonfire with family and friends.  Whenever possible throughout the year, Stephanie and her husband relish spending time at the beach.
